*Rescheduled from last week!* We will hike on Hardy Ridge in the Beacon Rock, Hamilton Mtn state park. 8.1 Miles round trip. 2175 elevation gain. B Moderate hike. A beautiful hike with many wild flowers. Discovery pass is necessary cost $30 per year or $10 per day. A kiosk is at Beacon rock or an envelope at the trail head. We will meet at the Gateway parking building 1321 NE 99th on the lower level. This is a strenuous hike so please know your limits. Group can decide on difficulty level they prefer. We can discuss your difficulty preference on the hike. Bring camera, hiking poles. Dog Friendly on Leash. Bring 10 essentials. Luncheon at Thunder Island in Cascade Locks afterwards. Note: This is Friday night, not Saturday. Come to play a board game (games provided by organizer such as Rummikub, Scrabble and Mexican Train, or bring one of your own games). Bring a favorite beverage for yourself (alcohol is okay, but no red wine) and a snack to share. Register on the Bergie site. Eagle Creek to Punch Bowl Falls Hike Start point: Eagle Creek Trailhead. End point: Punch Bowl Falls, may go 2nd bridge, depending on group Hike type: Out and back. Distance: 4.2 miles (round trip), more if we go to 1st or 2nd bridge Elevation gain: 525 feet. High point: 505 feet. Seasons: Year round. Dog Friendly: Yes, on leash. Bring 10 essentials, lots of water, snack or lite lunch, weather will be warm with heavy usage. Moderately strenuous hike. We‘ll meet at 8AM at Lewis and Clark (see below address) and carpool to the Trailhead (address below). This is a NO fee parking area. Do not leave valuables in cars. Group may decide on refreshments post hike. A valid Recreational Pass required for parking at Trailhead, or $5.00 DAY use pass can be purchased at fee station information board. From Portland: Travel east on I-84 to exit #41 which is just past the interstate tunnel...get in the right lane before entering the tunnel. Elowah/Upper Creek Falls 3 Miles combined distance, Level B, 700‘ elevation gain. Elowah Falls (a 213‘ Fall)is an easy 1.5 round trip, but we will add Upper McCord Creek (a 64‘ twin fall)along basalt cliffs & great view of Beacon Rock & Hamilton Mtn. Dog friendly. Bring water for you and your leashed pet. Have snacks and your 10 essentials. Refreshments or lunch depending on desire of the group. Meet at Lewis and Clark State Recreation (Exit 18 off I-84 in Troutdale - turn Left at stop, go to 2nd parking lot, park near the restrooms). No Pass/ no Fee needed to park here. Will load up into cars and drive to Trailhead. NW Forest Pass or small day-use fee required for parking at Trailhead. Finding the Trailhead: Exit off I-84 to exit 35. Turn Left, follow signs to Dodson. After 150‘ turn Right onto Frontage Rd & drive 2 miles to Trailead parking area on right. Please text/call/online RSVP - may reschedule due to inclement weather.
